Outpost – 2014

Skills: Inkjet Transfer

Outpost is a companion series to Colony. In these scenarios figures find themselves in a more complete landscape. Yet as in Colony the scenery is still interrupted by areas of pure colour. These patterns act as censors, enhancers and underlying narratives.

The images originally come from mass-produced sources, postcards and souvenirs produced to give an idealised record of a place. After undergoing a process of Photoshopping, printing, transferring and painting they have become unique, surreal histories that convey more of a sense of a particular time or place.

All works are inkjet transfer, gouache and acrylic on paper.
