Pellegrino – 2016
Old-school tourist attractions such as Big Things and family-run dolphin pools are becoming emblems of the past. Heritage listing or repurposing mark these things out as being of another time, even if they continue to function today. The paintings in the Pellegrino series are a reimagining of these places. The viewer is asked to consider how the qualities that define these places –their size, or their promise to commune with nature on some level – would be defined as mythic in any other context.
All works are oil, acrylic and graphite on board.
