Studio Diary Oct 6-12

Post Sulman and The Lab, it’s back to work replenishing stocks…

…and completing paintings for a school fundraiser.

The organisers at St Thomas expressed a preference for the black and white landscapes that I was doing a few years ago. I have to admit that after years of painting dolphins and meter maids and Big Things, it’s been a challenge getting back into a quieter, black & white headspace. I found a solution in doing the vibrantly coloured underpaintings that I’ve become used to, and overlaying that with the quieter, meditative landscape. You’ll still see a hint of the underpainting through the landscape where the black and white is more thinly applied.

I should have these knocked over in a few days. And then it’s back to pineapples. Big ones.
